With summer upon us, we all need to protect ourselves and our families from the many dangers of UV Radiation. It is estimated that we receive approximately 80% of our lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18, so sun protective measures can’t be started early enough. The Skin Cancer Foundation notes that regular sun protection throughout childhood can reduce the risk of skin cancer by 80%. Sunscreen is a must! It has a physical blocker that reflects the sun’s rays, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, in order to have broad protection. For infants less than six months, sun avoidance and wearing protective clothing are the most important sun protective measures. It is also important to protect eyes from UV radiation.
Protect early and enjoy healthy skin for life!
