Craft by Lyndsay Hedman
With just a handful of cupcake liners, a few twigs from your backyard, and a dot of hot glue, you can create a cheerful bouquet of paper flowers that might make even a bee or butterfly pause for a second look.
Materials
- Cupcake liners
- Twigs (gather these from your yard, park or wherever you can find twigs)
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Scissors
- Pencil
Step 1
- Stack four cupcake liners and fold them in half, then fold them in half again. You should end up with a wedge shape that looks a bit like a slice of pie.

Step 2
- Next, draw the lines you want to cut. You can make them straight, curvy or a mix of both. Drawing the lines is optional, but we found it helpful. The curvier cuts tended to look the most realistic once finished.

Step 3
- Cut along your lines, then snip a small sliver off the pointed tip of the “pie.” This creates an opening so the stick can slide through the liners.

Step 4
- Carefully separate the four layers and slide them onto the twig. Using hot glue, secure the first liner slightly below the tip of the twig, folding the paper as needed so it stays in place. Continue gluing each liner underneath the previous one until all four are attached.

Step 5
- Finally, fluff and shape your petals. Curl them, spread the layers apart or adjust them until you like how they look. And just like that, you’ve made a flower using nothing but cupcake liners and a twig.
