Right in Rapid City, Jolly Lane Greenhouse has a huge stock of Christmas trees ready for the picking. This greenhouse is open from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make your home a winter wonderland, pick up a poinsettia and wreath, as well!

Purchase a Christmas Tree Permit at most Forest Service offices to cut down your own ponderosa pine, spruce, or juniper tree in the Black Hills National Forest. The permits cost $10 and are available from mid-November through the week before Christmas.
Cycle Farm in Spearfish is a small family farm that sells their crops directly at their farm stand market, but in the weeks leading up to Christmas, they also sell Christmas trees. They use human-powered and regenerative farming practices, so you can be sure your holiday isn’t hurting the environment!

Take a ride on the 1880 Train’s Holiday Express, in which passengers can see the Black Hills on a vintage steam train! On the Holiday Express, the route goes from Hill City to the North Pole, where each child gets to visit with Santa and receive a small gift. The ride will include hot chocolate (spiked for the adults), sugar cookies, and plenty of candy canes! Make sure to reserve your tickets in advance.
Head to the magical Christmas Night of Light at Storybook Island, held every night from December 8 through 23, in which characters are covered in festive lights.
