The interactive fountains at Main Street Square are set to begin running on Friday, May 26.
During warm months, the fountains run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and feature a light show when the sun goes down. Watch as water dances along to music, while changing color. “The Square is filled with the laughter of children cooling off in the fountains throughout the summer months,” said Megan Whitman, executive director of Main Street Square. “The local community and tourists can relax by the dancing water after a day of shopping, dining, and exploring Downtown.”
The interactive water feature will not run when temperatures are cooler than 55 degrees Fahrenheit, when winds are more than 25 miles per hour or in the event of severe weather. In the event of smaller wind gusts, the feature will run at half-mast. Main Street Square’s events and fountain maintenance may also impact the fountain. The second water feature, a cascade waterfall and rain curtain that is located between the spires at the corner of the park, will not run this summer due to sculptor Masayuki Nagase returning for his fifth and final summer of carving The Sculpture Project: Passage of Wind and Water. Each year in early October the interactive fountains, where the young and young at heart can play, are winterized. The feature is located in the oval in the middle of Main Street Square where the ice skating rink is built each November.
