Choose your paper and cut it into a 6 x 6-inch square. The easiest way is to use a ruler to mark 6 inches along the top and bottom edges, draw a line connecting the marks, then repeat for the other side.
Turn the square so it looks like a diamond. Fold the top point down to meet the bottom point, then crease it well.
You should now have a large triangle. Fold the right corner down to meet the bottom point and crease. Repeat with the left corner. Your paper should look like a diamond again. Unfold both small triangles until you’re back to the large triangle from Step 2.
Fold the bottom point upward so it sits between the two crease lines you just made. This creates a pocket. You should now have a triangle at both the top and bottom.
Fold the right triangle up so it lines up with the center triangle. Repeat on the left side.
Unfold both triangles. Tuck the right triangle into the pocket you created. Repeat with the left triangle.
You did it! You have officially made an origami bookmark. Now the real fun begins - kids can transform it into anything their imagination dreams up. A fox, a robot, a favorite character, a silly monster or something completely brand new. Decorate your bookmark with markers, stickers, glitter, or any other craft supplies you have.
