What You’ll Need

  • Cardboard
  • Yarn (one or more colors)
  • Fishing line
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Scissors
  • Craft knife and self-healing cutting mat (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut out your letter.

Draw a letter on the cardboard and cut it out. For letters with enclosed spaces, such as B or R, make the openings large enough to wrap yarn through. A craft knife and self-healing cutting mat will help with tight corners and smaller cuts.

2. Add a hanging loop.

Cut a piece of fishing line and shape it into a loop. Secure the ends to the back of your letter with hot glue, leaving the loop free for hanging.

3. Wrap it in yarn.

Hot-glue the end of your yarn to the back of the letter. Wrap the yarn around the cardboard until the entire letter is covered. For letters with enclosed spaces, thread the yarn through the openings to cover the inner edges, too.

4. Secure the end.

Glue the final end of the yarn to the back of the letter and let it cool. Your personalized ornament is ready to hang on the tree!
