Dinner’s on Us Tonight

One of the most meaningful ways to support military families during a deployment is to simply bring a meal. A warm casserole on the counter can take one decision off a very full plate. Use the “Print Recipe” buttons to print a recipe card for your collection and a note to include with each of your dishes.

Baked Zitti

All the comfort of lasagna with less assembly and fewer moving parts.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ziti or penne pasta, cooked
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 jar marinara sauce about 24 oz.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Method
 

  1. Brown meat in a skillet and drain.
  2. Mix cooked pasta with sauce, ricotta, seasoning and meat.
  3. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 dish.
  4. Top with mozzarella and parmesan.

Bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until melted and bubbly.

Luxe Chicken Casserole

Rich, creamy and a little luxurious — this is the kind of dish that feels like someone really showed up for you. The green onions or chives really make a difference, trust us.

Ingredients
  

  • 2-3 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 sleeve buttery crackers(like Ritz), crushed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 10.5 oz. can of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 handful chopped green onions or chives optional

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, mix chicken, sour cream, soup, mayo, cheese, garlic powder and pepper.
  2. Spread into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  3. Top with crushed crackers.
  4. Chop green onions or chives (put these in a zip top baggie for your recipient to sprinkle over the top once cooked).

Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes until hot and lightly golden.
Sprinkle green onion (or chives) over the top just before serving.

Gluten-free Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Comfort food that just happens to be gluten-free.

Ingredients
  

  • 2-3 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 15 oz. can black beans, drained
  • 1 cup corn
  • 2 cups enchilada sauce (double-check label for gluten-free status)
  • 8-10 corn torillas
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Method
 

  1. To make the filling, mix chicken, beans, corn, enchilada sauce and spices in a bowl.
  2. In a greased 9×13 dish, layer tortillas, then filling, then cheese.
  3. Repeat layers. Finish with a final layer of cheese on top.
